A certain slant of light

We've managed to heave ourselves over the shortest day of the year, and are on the gentle slope downwards towards spring...

The first semester’s teaching and assessment is now under my belt: highlights included some fantastic assignments on judicial review remedies for a hypothetical Auckland transition agency contract approval process gone awry, and a spellbinding guest lecture performance by Chapman Tripp's Adam Ross and Marie Whistler on the Medlab litigation.

This semester I'm teaching a year 2 class on intentional torts as well as continuing with my research activities and working on a number of interesting private practice instructions.

On the research front, I am in the thick of writing a paper on indigenous perspectives on biodiversity protection New Zealand, as well as drafting two chapters for a new climate change law and policy textbook.  The interface between economics and environmental law is also continuing to intrigue me, and I hope to get out a paper by the end of the year which builds on my Masters research on that topic.

The Khmer-run cafe on St Paul Street, Craven ‘A’, has my vote so far this year for the best coffee and vegetarian muffins within five minutes of my office.  Give me a call would like to catch up and assess its culinary excellence firsthand...
