On 9 February 2010 I’m chairing 2 “webinars”: web-based seminars as part of the 2010 Climate Change Series being run by Lexis Nexis – more details on the 2010 Webinar Schedule here.
The first webinar will be focussing on the ETS Legislation and Repercussions on the Market, with Buddle Findlay’s Steve Nightingale and Alastair Cameron. Both Steve and Alastair have in depth experience on climate change law and the ETS – Alastair having worked on secondment in Treasury during the development of the ETS, Steve having acted for many of the big players in the energy sector.
The second session will be looking at water allocation, with insight and analysis from two seasoned practitioners in the field: Minter Ellison Rudd Watts partner Rachel Devine and Auckland University Associate Professor and Director of Energy Centre Basil Sharp, an economist and in-demand expert witness and adviser on contentious water allocation issues. Disputes over water allocation are no longer limited to traditional battlegrounds in the south, but are now rife, countrywide, involving generators, farmers, recreational users, iwi and regulators. I’m looking forward to quizzing Rachel and Basil on the current issues, and their thoughts on the process going forward.
